A "Tummy Tuck", also known as an Abdominoplasty. is performed on weight loss surgery patients who have achieved their maximum weight loss, typically 12-18 months after their bariatric surgery. Excess skin and fat in the front of the abdomen and pelvis is surgically removed as in the illustrations below. Abdominal muscles can also be tightened.

The surgery is an outpatient procedure which means that you will be going home the same day as the surgery. Drains placed at the time of the surgery will be removed about a week later in the office.

This is a cosmetic procedure, and as such, the cost of an abdominoplasty is NOT covered by insurance. This is NOT a panniculectomy, although a panniculectomy is included in an abdominoplasty.
